A Look Down Below

We were very happy with our Hallberg-Rassy 46. When it was time to decide on a layout, we knew that we'd choose something very similar to what we had before. We like the teak interior, because it's durable, and the look reminds us of contemporary Scandinavian design.

Living on a boat for half the year means that it's really your home. These chairs are comfortable for reading or simply sitting in the main salon, and they give the boat the feel of a comfortable living room.

The dining table folds down on both sides, providing space for sitting, even when you aren't having a meal.

The navigation station is the center of trip planning, of course, but it's also the location of the main PC, so there's always a lot of activity there. The marine electronics on board are all from Raymarine. There's also a network connection between the PC here at the nav station and a second laptop in the aft cabin.

We chose the U-shaped galley because we were very happy with that setup in the past. The cook is close to the cockpit when guests are aboard, and there's nobody squirming past in a small walkthrough when somebody else is focused on feeding the crew. We've got a second refrigerator in the walkthrough area, so anyone can grab a drink without going into the galley at all.

Having the main stateroom in the back of a center-cockpit boat means that we can have a large berth that's comfortable in all conditions.

The forward vee berth provides sleeping quarters for guests. There's also a side cabin with two single berths.
